Russia’s GigaChat AI Gets New Research Mode to Deliver In-Depth Reports

Sberbank’s neural network can now conduct complex multi-source analyses and generate structured responses with citations.

At the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, Sberbank President and Chairman Herman Gref unveiled a new 'Research' function in GigaChat, the bank’s proprietary neural network. The upgraded tool enables deep, multi-step data analysis across diverse sources, producing structured reports complete with citations.

Gref emphasized that artificial intelligence is a foundational technology of the modern era, requiring proactive state involvement. 'AI will soon impact all areas of life,' he said, calling for reforms in education and increased collaboration between universities and tech companies.

The new GigaChat feature is designed to ease professional workflows by automating research and analytics tasks. The system functions like a smart assistant that can interact with other AI platforms to solve routine problems.

Gref also highlighted the importance of 'measured regulation' to avoid stifling AI innovation. Russia already maintains ethical and technical standards for its growing AI ecosystem.
