Russian Developer Launches New Antivirus Backed by Dedicated Research Lab

Positive Technologies has rolled out a new cybersecurity product, MaxPatrol EPP, designed to protect endpoints from large-scale cyber threats.

One of Russia’s leading cybersecurity vendors, Positive Technologies, opened a dedicated antivirus laboratory six months ago. The new facility, known as PT ESC, brings together several teams focused on advanced malware detection and analysis.

The specialists have since developed a new product called MaxPatrol EPP, an antivirus solution designed to protect workstations and servers from widespread cyber threats.

According to the company, the launch of the laboratory significantly strengthened its ability to process large volumes of data. Hundreds of thousands of new malware samples appear globally every day, and to keep pace with this flow, PT ESC relies on automated, large-scale threat analysis services. These systems identify both previously unknown threats and new ways of exploiting familiar ones, continually expanding the visibility and effectiveness of the company’s security products.

Faster Response Times

As a result, the update speed of antivirus expertise across all company products has doubled. The volume of analyzed malware samples has increased fourfold, and the antivirus threat database has grown by 25 percent.

The creation of a centralized antivirus laboratory has enabled the Russian developer to make a significant leap forward in advancing its in-house cybersecurity technologies.
