Russian Mining Company Launches AI Training Program for Women Engineers

A major coal mining firm plans to introduce a long-term AI education initiative aimed at expanding digital skills among women in engineering and management roles.

The Eastern Mining Company (VGK) will begin training women in engineering and leadership positions in artificial intelligence technologies starting in 2026.

According to Anna Demeshkina, VGK’s deputy general director for human resources, the program will include a new digital competency track for women engineers, an introductory course in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and training in AI‑powered cognitive behavior analysis tools for women in management roles.

A Long-Term Initiative

In partnership with the National Artificial Intelligence Foundation Association, VGK will conduct a series of joint studies and develop and implement AI‑driven solutions, including tools for optimizing human resources management.

“Together with the Association, we are building a systemic educational trajectory for our female employees—from basic principles of artificial intelligence to practical applications in management and engineering. This is not a one‑time initiative but a long-term investment in the growth of our teams,” Demeshkina emphasized.
