Russia’s State Telecom Giant Is Building Its Own App Store for Games

Rostelecom is developing a gaming marketplace tailored to the Russian Aurora OS, with potential links to a domestic console.

Russia’s national digital platform Rostelecom is launching its own video game store. The marketplace will cater to domestically developed games adapted for the country’s Aurora operating system, according to the newspaper Kommersant. The new platform may be bundled with a homegrown gaming console by FPlus, which debuted earlier this year at the CIPR 2025 tech forum.

Several titles are already being re-coded for compatibility with Aurora. These games are expected to ship with locally manufactured tablets running the Russian OS — and they’ll be available for purchase directly through the platform.

Rostelecom has experience in this space. It previously launched “Game Market” in 2019, and its first digital gaming product dates back to 2015. This time, however, the company is operating in a more favorable environment: government support for Russia’s IT sector is growing, and domestic users now have greater access to homegrown digital products.
