In Russia, the number of job openings requiring AI skills increased by 30 percent in fall 2025 compared with the same period last year. Experts describe it as a “quiet revolution” in the labor market. Yuri Chekhovich, head of Laboratory No. 42 “Intelligent Data Analysis” at the Institute of Control Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences and founder of an academic integrity verification service, shared his perspective on this HR trend with IT RUSSIA.

“Humanities fields—from journalism and education to design and management—are rapidly transforming under the influence of AI. These tools already help users dive into new topics, search for information, structure texts, and even work with multimedia. Predictions about the mass disappearance of professions did not come true. Instead, the structure of tasks has changed, and the demand has grown for specialists who can work effectively with algorithms,” he noted.

A Functional Assistant

According to the candidate of physical and mathematical sciences, there is a paradox: people with technical degrees are often more cautious about neural networks because they understand how they work. At the same time, humanities specialists who deal with information, meaning, and narrative adopt AI quickly and find themselves in a favorable position.

“Algorithms handle data processing well, but only a human can interpret results, build logic, and take responsibility for content,” the expert added.

He emphasizes that AI has already become a functional assistant—it helps with editing, translation, idea generation, and even serves as a “conversation partner” for testing hypotheses. However, the key future skill is critical thinking and mandatory fact-checking.

“Mastering artificial intelligence is no longer optional; it is becoming essential for professional success. The ability to use neural networks competently and ethically, integrating them into one’s workflow, will determine a specialist’s market value,” Chekhovich stressed.
