AI Insurance: Alfa Strakhovanie Shifts to New Standards

Russia’s digital ecosystem continues to be reinforced by practical, efficiency-driven business solutions. The insurance group AlfaStrakhovanie announced that in 2026 it will launch more than 10 artificial intelligence–based projects built on Yandex B2B Tech technologies.

Scaling Up AI Adoption

More than 500 in-house developers will begin using the Source Craft Code Assistant, an AI coding assistant designed to reduce the time required for writing and testing software and to accelerate the launch of new digital products. The SpeechSense speech analytics service will automatically analyze up to 20,000 customer calls per day, identifying key requests and compliance violations. This is expected to improve service quality and operational transparency.

Additional routine functions will also be delegated to AI systems, including corporate email processing, HR workflow automation and document management. The shift is intended to optimize employee workloads and allow teams to focus on strategic development rather than repetitive tasks.

AI as the New Industry Baseline

Artificial intelligence in insurance is no longer a future concept but a present-day standard. Sber Insurance has long relied on an AI agent to automatically process insurance payout documentation. For certain products, customers receive compensation within five minutes. Rosgosstrakh uses more than 30 machine-learning models to calculate compulsory auto insurance tariffs. RESO-Garantia has automated document recognition during policy issuance. Meanwhile, Capital LIFE received an industry award last fall for integrating AI into life insurance. The company now conducts diagnostics of serious illnesses remotely using medical robots equipped with artificial intelligence.

AlfaStrakhovanie has been using Yandex Cloud services based on Yandex B2B Tech solutions since 2019. Approximately 20% of the company’s IT infrastructure is currently deployed in the cloud.

Today, more than 80% of insurance companies use AI when launching new products and interacting with customers. We are now planning to develop and deploy AI services that allow employees to focus on strategically important tasks by freeing them from routine work. Our goal is to create technologies that simplify everyday processes and open up new opportunities for businesses and their clients

Russia Among Global AI Leaders

“Today, we increasingly rely less on external experts and assessors. These functions are being taken over by technologies that process data in seconds, assess damage, generate conclusions and initiate payouts. And they do all of this automatically, without human involvement,” says Ruslan Vesterovsky, senior vice president and head of Wealth Management at Sberbank.

This trend is providing additional momentum for Russia’s IT sector. According to Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov, Russia entered the global top ten for AI integration in 2024 and ranked fourth worldwide in the number of AI models created. Stanford University has also placed Russia among the top 20 countries by volume of artificial intelligence research.

From Digitalization to Intelligence

In the coming years, AI-driven projects in insurance and adjacent sectors are expected to grow exponentially. “This will open the door to new products and services that improve our customers’ quality of life. We are confident that the prospects for AI adoption in life insurance are enormous and will have a significant impact on the industry over the coming decades,” said Evgeny Gurevich, CEO of Capital LIFE.

The broader shift from basic digitalization toward full-scale intellectualization of business processes signals that the digital economy is entering a new phase. Technology is no longer merely a tool but the environment in which business operates.
