Anton Nemkin: New University IT Programs Unite Humanities and Engineering
Russian universities are introducing cross‑disciplinary IT programs that merge law, technology and digital skills to train specialists for a new economy

New Opportunities for IT Education
Russia is preparing multifunctional professionals for the emerging digital economy. Hybrid specialties at the intersection of technology and law are now appearing even in regional universities. Recently, students at Transbaikal State University completed the first module of a new course titled Digital Jurisprudence.
Sharing his thoughts with IT RUSSIA, State Duma deputy and federal coordinator of the Digital Russia project Anton Nemkin emphasized that workforce development is key to overcoming the long‑standing divide between technical and humanitarian disciplines.
Specialists of a New Generation
According to Nemkin, such programs help students understand how the digital environment functions, what rules govern it and how those rules must evolve to reflect reality.
The Digital Jurisprudence program at the Digital Department of Transbaikal State University trains next‑generation legal experts. Students learn traditional legal frameworks while also immersing themselves deeply in the digital ecosystem — its structure, operating principles and the ways legislation must adapt to modern realities.
Similar educational programs now operate at major universities in Moscow and Saint Petersburg, demonstrating how Russia is investing in future talent to strengthen national technological leadership.
