Cybersecurity 101? Most Russians Say: Yes, Please—If Employers Lead the Way

In an age of phishing, leaks, and digital identity theft, more than half of Russians say they’re ready to learn how to defend themselves online—especially if the push comes from their workplace

According to a new study by Kaspersky Lab, 58% of respondents said they’d take a basic cybersecurity course if offered by their employer.

The most in-demand topics? Smartphone protection and financial security in the face of cybercrime topped the list, followed by safeguarding personal data and online accounts.

“Russians are eager to understand how to secure their passwords, email, and personal information,” said Tatyana Shumailova, spokesperson for Kaspersky’s Security Awareness division. “They also want to be hands-on—learning how to build digital defense systems on their own devices.”

The real-world results are already in. Russian industrial giant PhosAgro rolled out targeted training programs, and the impact was immediate: employees began applying cybersecurity best practices both at work and in their personal digital lives.

The takeaway? Cyber-literacy is no longer optional—and in Russia, forward-looking companies are becoming the new frontline in national digital hygiene.
