Experts Say AI Is Giving Russia’s Film Industry a New Push

At a creative industries festival in Yekaterinburg, industry leaders said artificial intelligence is fueling a new wave of growth in Russian cinema, from screenwriting to production planning.

Russian experts praised the impact of artificial intelligence on the country’s film industry. At the Creative Industries Festival in Yekaterinburg, representatives of major organizations said the technology has become a powerful catalyst for the sector’s next phase of development.

The director of Red Pepper Film noted that he now writes scripts with the help of a neural network. The AI assists in shaping a character based on input data such as location, age, family status, and profession. He emphasized that while the system simplifies the process, it cannot fully replace human creativity.

During the production of one film, the studio used AI to generate concepts for mythical creatures inspired by folklore. The system produced multiple design options, which were later developed by artists into final visuals.

Meanwhile, the head of international distribution and co-production at Kunya Film said neural networks are proving useful for time management. The software can analyze markets ahead of film promotion and create detailed schedules for participating in events and thousands of meetings.

Specialists simply upload a list of contacts into the system, specifying the necessary criteria, and the AI provides prioritized meeting options along with information on where to find the right people.
