Kursk Nuclear Plant to Adopt Domestic Operations Support System

Russia’s Kursk Nuclear Power Plant will switch to a homegrown digital platform, TORÉKS, aimed at making maintenance planning more transparent and boosting operational safety.

According to the plant’s press service, the TORÉKS system will be integrated into industrial processes in 2027 as part of the second stage of modernization. By mid-2026, about 2,000 workers at Kursk NPP are expected to be trained to use the platform in their daily operations.

TORÉKS, built on the IBM Maximo foundation, has already been rolled out at Balakovo, Beloyarsk, Kola, Rostov, and Smolensk nuclear plants since 2023.

Andrei Shchigolev, chief engineer at Kursk NPP, said the system will make it easier to plan and carry out repairs, improving both reactor safety and the overall reliability of the facility.

Developers emphasize that the domestic solution offers broader functionality and greater potential applications compared to foreign systems.
