Moscow Bus Stops Get QR Codes for Real-Time Schedules

At Moscow’s new 'smart' bus stops, passengers can now scan QR codes to access real-time transit schedules and route maps on their phones.
In Moscow, passengers at the city’s smart bus stops can instantly check accurate route schedules. More than 2,000 stops have been equipped with QR codes that redirect riders to a service providing live data for every bus and electric bus. By pointing a smartphone at the code, users see a route map and the exact arrival time of the next vehicle. For those using the 'Moscow Transport' app, the information opens directly in the application.
The QR codes are located at new stops without enclosed pavilions. These modern complexes feature extended roofs, durable materials, comfortable seating, lighting, and video surveillance. Each QR code is placed on an illuminated info board.
Moscow has adopted a flexible approach to stop design. Depending on passenger flow and available space, the city installs standard, compact, or expanded pavilions. On narrow sites, smaller flag-style signs with routes are mounted, while at major transit hubs large shelters are built.
