Nearly 6 Million Moscow Residents Now Use Digital Health Records

Russia’s capital is rapidly digitizing healthcare, with millions relying on a mobile app to book appointments, track lab results, and monitor vital signs

Almost 6 million Moscow residents now use electronic medical records through the city’s 'EMIAS.INFO' app, and the number keeps climbing. Over the past year, the mobile version’s popularity has surged by 50 percent, with daily active users approaching 300,000.

The platform makes it simple to book doctor appointments and view lab results, MRI scans, exam protocols, and specialist recommendations. Users can log vital health indicators—blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, blood sugar—and even upload data via photos or voice input. According to Anastasia Rakova, Moscow’s deputy mayor for social development, the app has become a central hub for managing personal health.

Digital records include lab results, diagnostic imaging, vaccination histories, and medical certificates. Patients can review hospitalization records online, while parents gain a rare option to watch real-time video streams from neonatal intensive care units.

Since access opened five years ago, users have uploaded more than 4.8 million medical documents. Over 2.3 million people have filled out medical histories, and the app’s 'Health Diary' now contains more than 330 million entries.
