Russia Develops a Unified Digital Platform for Environmental Monitoring
Federal and regional authorities are using digital technologies to coordinate efforts to protect the environment.

Russia is expanding its electronic environmental monitoring system. The government has shared interim results of the initiative. In 2025, the Federal State Information System Ekologicheskoe Blagopoluchie (Environmental Well-Being) was launched. The platform now aggregates data from 13 providers, including ministries and agencies, as well as regional and municipal authorities. It can host 366 datasets grouped into 18 modules covering all components of the environment, including the condition of water, air, soil, radiation levels, and other parameters.
All Environmental Data on One Platform
As noted by Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia, the Ekomonitoring system is a single digital platform that collects data on environmental conditions. In the near future, it will add new tools for mathematical modeling and forecasting, as well as neural network technologies.
Over the next two years, the core body of data will be uploaded to the system. A key task at this stage is to establish effective interagency coordination. By pooling efforts through digital technologies, environmental protection in Russia is expected to move to a qualitatively new level.
