Russia Is to Centralize Mineral Deposit Maps in a Single System
The move is designed to standardize access to geological information and consolidate data on mineral resources.

All maps of mineral deposits and subsurface areas in Russia will be stored exclusively in a unified geological information fund. The State Duma has approved the relevant bill in its second and third readings.
This means that specialized maps and diagrams showing mineral reserves and the boundaries of subsurface areas will no longer be published on individual agency websites. Instead, they will be available only through the federal system known as the Unified Geological Information Fund on Subsurface Resources.
Access to the data will be granted to authorized users.
Unified Access
Earlier, authorities reported plans to add a dedicated section for subsoil users to the national public services portal. The section will consolidate information on mineral extraction licenses and provide links to services offered by Rosnedra.
By the end of the year, users will also be able to submit applications through the portal to classify mineral reserves as commercially viable or non-viable, as well as to set standards for mineral content in mining waste.
