Russia Is to Launch Course to Teach Adults How to Help Children Behave Safely Online
A new course is designed to help adults understand how children behave online and how to protect them from digital risks.

An online course titled Tsifrovaya gigiena: kak obuchat detei bezopasnosti v internete (Digital Hygiene: How to Teach Children Online Safety) has been launched on the Znanie.Akademiya (Znanie Academy) platform. The program was developed by the Russian society Znanie together with the non-profit organization Digital Economy. It is aimed at teachers and parents who want a clearer understanding of the threats children face on the internet.
Recognizing the Risks
The course explains how school-age children behave in digital environments. Participants learn which risks children most commonly encounter online and how to spot them early. The program offers a clear, practical framework for online safety. Educators are trained to identify the main types of digital threats and understand how they affect a child’s mental well-being. The course also shows how to run classes on this topic in schools.
For parents, the program helps build a culture of responsible online behavior and clear rules for children. A separate module focuses on how to recognize signs of cyberbullying and other dangerous situations.
The course is open to anyone interested. It consists of 11 lessons with a total duration of about five hours. After completing the program, participants receive a personalized certificate.
Expert Opinion
The course was developed with the involvement of specialists in digital literacy and child online safety. Lectures are delivered by representatives of the Digital Economy organization, VK, the Alliance for Protecting Children in the Digital Environment, as well as a representative of Kaspersky Lab.
It cannot be ruled out that the basics of safe online behavior will eventually become part of Russia’s core school curriculum.
