Russia Is to Use AI to Automatically Block Unsafe Products
Rosselkhoznadzor is rolling out advanced technologies across its inspection and enforcement activities.

Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor, is introducing artificial intelligence and unmanned aerial vehicles into its inspection and oversight work, delivering tangible results. The impact of these technologies was outlined by the agency’s head, Sergei Dankvert, in a briefing to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
Dankvert said the effectiveness of inspections has risen to 87%, in part due to the adoption of digital tools.
Rosselkhoznadzor to Share Data Broadly
Risk indicators developed by Rosselkhoznadzor in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development have produced strong results.
In addition, regional authorities are making active use of the watchdog’s digital data. These systems allow users to track quantitative and qualitative indicators on specific issues, review laboratory test results, and access other relevant information. As a result, Rosselkhoznadzor plans to carry out online blocking of unsafe products automatically in 2026.
This is a clear example of how digital technologies are making government oversight and enforcement more efficient and straightforward, while also improving coordination between agencies.
