Russia Is to Use AI to Grade School Tests
Artificial intelligence is expected to assist teachers rather than replace them.

Anzor Muzaev, head of Rosobrnadzor, said artificial intelligence is planned for use in Russian schools to grade tests and assessments. According to him, the rollout is intended to be gradual and cautious, with extended pilot testing of the new technology.
The project will be developed in partnership with Yandex. The main goal is to reduce teachers’ routine workload without substituting their role in the core educational process.
He noted that elements of AI are already used in the education system, including handwriting recognition and detecting identity substitution during the Unified State Exam.
Electronic Assignments
Using AI to grade tests would require moving some assignments into digital formats. A previous order from the Ministry of Digital Development set a target of increasing the share of work checked with AI to 70 percent by 2030.
Some experts oppose an active shift of education into digital formats, while authorities and the professional community emphasize the supportive role of technology and the need for cautious, phased implementation.
