Russia Launches New Grant Round to Boost IT Across Key Industries

The Russian government is awarding $35 million in grants to support domestic IT integration and reduce reliance on Western digital solutions.
Russia is kicking off the second round of government grants aimed at supporting collaboration between key industries and IT companies. The initiative is managed through Industrial Competence Centers (ICCs), which help identify sectors heavily dependent on Western technologies and coordinate their replacement with domestic alternatives.
In the first round, 197 projects were selected. The second wave includes 49 initiatives—17 of which will receive grant funding, while the remaining 32 will be financed by companies themselves using Russian technology. A total of 3.2 billion rubles ($35 million) in grants will be distributed by June 1 via the Russian Foundation for the Development of Information Technologies (RFRIT) and the Skolkovo Foundation. At least 86% of these projects are expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
Selected projects span a wide range of sectors. They include digital tools for the automotive industry, systems for generating high-precision 3D terrain models for mining, a domestic port call tracking platform, and new digital infrastructure for managing electric vehicles.
