Russia to Train 20,000 Students in Agri-Tech to Modernize Farming

A new initiative will equip students across the country with IT skills tailored to agriculture, aiming to digitize and enhance productivity in the farming sector.
Russia is launching a major educational initiative to strengthen its agricultural technology workforce. Under a new agreement signed by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Digital Development, and the telecom firm Rostelecom, 20,000 students will begin specialized IT programs focused on the agricultural sector starting this September. Leading universities across the country are participating.
The program goes beyond classroom learning: students will intern at agricultural firms, where they’ll help implement real-world IT solutions in farming operations. This dual approach addresses two national priorities—modernizing the agricultural sector and training a new generation of skilled professionals.
Experts say digital technologies directly impact crop yields and product quality, increasing productivity and resilience of agricultural enterprises by at least 20–30%.
