Russia Unveils 'Elections 2.0' Digital Platform Built on Domestic Software
A new generation of Russia’s state digital infrastructure has been launched. The upgraded 'Elections 2.0' system operates autonomously, integrates with key government services, and emphasizes security and technological sovereignty.

Russia’s digital infrastructure has taken a significant leap forward with the launch of the updated Elections 2.0 platform. The system successfully passed its first large-scale test during a nationwide rollout, demonstrating stability and readiness for full deployment. Designed to operate autonomously, the platform ensures maximum security and is based entirely on Russian-developed software.
According to Alexander Sokolchuk, head of the Federal Center of Informatization, this marks the completion of a large-scale process of digital transformation. The Elections 2.0 platform replaces the previous system and has been running in pilot mode since January 2025.
One of the core innovations of the platform is its complete isolation from the global internet, providing a heightened level of protection against external interference. It is also synchronized with other federal digital ecosystems, including the Gosuslugi portal, as well as internal databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Federal Tax Service. This integration enabled the launch of 56 new digital services under real operating conditions.
The introduction of Elections 2.0 represents a strategic step in building a modern, secure, and efficient national digital infrastructure. The platform ensures a high level of operational stability and leverages advanced digital services to improve citizen access to secure, reliable public services.
