Russia Unveils Its First AI‑Created Film About Great Writers
Russia has presented its first narrative film generated with the help of neural networks—an ambitious experiment that brings legendary Russian authors to life and reimagines how technology can expand cultural expression.

Neural Networks Bring the Classics to the Screen
At the AI Journey international conference, Sber premiered the short film "KlassikII", a creative novella produced with extensive use of artificial intelligence. The film digitally resurrects Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, and Anton Chekhov, sending them on a journey through modern‑day Russia.
The writers visit St. Petersburg, Pyatigorsk, and Khabarovsk—cities they once referenced in their works. By placing these literary giants in the present day, the creators aim to explore how they might view contemporary life, connecting historical culture with modern experiences through AI‑generated imagery.
New Horizons for Creative Industries
Vladislav Kreynin, Senior Vice President and Head of Marketing and Communications at Sber, emphasized that the project demonstrates the growing creative potential of AI technologies. These tools now support not only practical applications but also significantly broaden cultural and artistic possibilities.
The film KlassikII", along with other short stories from the anthology, will soon be available on the Okko streaming platform. Digital production methods are opening new creative landscapes and offering artists innovative ways to tell stories.
