Russia Upgrades Mobile Networks in Tourist Hotspots

Russia is modernizing mobile infrastructure in some of its most popular vacation destinations, bringing stable connections and high-speed internet to remote and scenic areas.
To make vacations in Russia as comfortable as possible, the country is upgrading mobile networks in tourist-heavy regions. New telecom equipment was recently installed along the Kochubey–Neftekumsk–Zelenokumsk–Mineralnye Vody federal highway, extending mobile internet coverage on this important travel route. Residents and visitors in Dagestan can now stay connected, use navigation apps on the road, stream music, and even confirm travel details with tour operators while in transit. Dagestan has become one of Russia’s top travel destinations, attracting more than 1.6 million tourists last year.
The push for stable connections is nationwide, reaching even rural regions. In the Republic of Mari El, Lake Shchuchye has long drawn anglers and travelers from across Russia. The area offers designated swimming spots and vacation lodges, but until recently suffered from poor reception. Now, visitors can share photos on social media, livestream, and call loved ones—even during peak network loads.
Reliable connectivity has also been brought to Lake Ladoga in Karelia, where tourists can now access digital services and stay in touch not only onshore but also on the islands.
