Russian Agritech Firm Pioneers AI, Augmented Reality, and Computer Vision on the Farm

One of Russia’s top agricultural companies is testing a suite of digital tools—from augmented reality to AI—to reduce stress and boost performance in the field.

By 2030, AGROECO Group, a leading player in Russia’s agribusiness sector, plans to automate 90% of its operational and production workflows. The announcement was made by board chairman Vladimir Maslov during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Currently, the company is piloting technologies rarely seen in Russian agriculture: augmented reality for remote livestock selection, tele-veterinary systems to monitor animal health from afar, non-invasive weighing methods, and computer vision for real-time quality control.

Artificial intelligence is being deployed to assist with managerial decisions. These algorithms will process data and make operational choices without human intervention—cutting down on repetitive tasks and boosting accuracy.

Maslov emphasized that the company isn’t just following government mandates for tech leadership in agriculture—it wants to lead from the front: 'We don’t just follow the government’s roadmap; we want to be the ones clearing the path. Implementing AI, AR, and tele-vet solutions isn’t a trend—it’s a necessity. Our goal is to make work fulfilling, not frustrating.'
