Russian Insurers Bring Smart Home Data into Housing Policies

In Russia, homeowners can now insure their apartments directly through smart home platforms, with sensors sending real-time data to insurance companies.
Through the Smart Home ecosystem, Russian residents can now not only manage building services, pay bills, and access infrastructure, but also insure their apartments. Using the Sprut.hub platform, data from smart sensors can be transmitted to insurance providers in real time. According to Rosgosstrakh, one of the country’s largest insurers, this reduces both risks and policy costs.
Policies can be purchased in just a few clicks and become active the day after payment. If leak or smoke detectors are triggered, the information is sent not only to the smart home system but also directly to insurers via API. In the event of a real incident, clients can immediately file a claim and receive compensation.
Smart home sensors can also help prevent accidents. For example, high electricity consumption may signal an overloaded network or a forgotten iron, while sudden temperature changes could point to fire hazards, leaks, or heating failures. Motion, window, and door sensors can detect break-ins. These signals automatically alert insurers, who can then contact the client right away.
