Russian Meat Producer Invests in Robotics to Automate Sausage Packaging

ABI, one of Russia’s top meat companies, is building robotic systems to cut manual labor and modernize food processing.
Russian manufacturers are accelerating efforts to automate food production. ABI, a major meat producer based in the Vladimir region, has announced plans to invest 125 million rubles in robotic processing systems. The company expects to roll out the first seven robots by 2026.
The initiative will focus on developing two types of robotic systems: one for placing sausages into boxes and another for assembling shipping pallets.
ABI officials say that introducing in-house automation technology will boost operational reliability and reduce the need for manual labor.
ABI owns some of Russia’s most recognizable food brands, including Vyazanka, Starodvorye, Chebupeli, and Goryachaya Shtuchka. The robotics project is expected to solidify the company’s leadership while advancing the domestic food tech sector.
A separate facility for building food-processing robots was recently launched in Orenburg, underscoring broader national momentum toward automation.
