Researchers at Perm National Research Polytechnic University have developed software that can forecast demand for professionals two to four years ahead, according to the university’s press service, cited by TASS.

The algorithm analyses data from HR websites, groups skills by industry and identifies which professionals will be in short supply and when. The system can also bypass website blocking mechanisms during data collection so that its requests are not flagged as malicious activity.

Adjusting Education Programmes

About 30,000 vacancies are collected within an hour. The system then identifies key skills using artificial intelligence. The result is a structured picture of the labour market, highlighting professional roles and the skills required for them. Users simply enter a query for a specific field, and the programme shows which skills are losing relevance and which, on the contrary, are becoming more in demand.

For example, among IT professionals there is growing demand for professionals who have team management skills, experience in training staff and strong organisational abilities. The technology could help universities adjust educational programmes to better match labour market needs.
