Kaspersky Helps INTERPOL Arrest More Than 1,400 Cybercriminals in Africa
As part of its partnership with INTERPOL, Kaspersky provided threat intelligence for Operation Serengeti III, a crackdown on cybercrime in Africa. The operation resulted in 1,462 suspects being arrested and $105 million in losses being recovered or compensated.

The third edition of the operation brought together private-sector companies and law enforcement agencies from 20 African countries and the United States. Its primary targets included online fraud, ransomware and business email compromise (BEC) attacks. Investigators identified approximately 66,000 victims, with total financial losses estimated at $385 million.
Kaspersky experts provided technical analysis of botnet and DDoS attack infrastructure, along with information on phishing and malicious websites targeting users in Africa. During the operation, nearly 11,000 pieces of malicious infrastructure were taken down.
Investigations launched following Operation Serengeti III are ongoing.
