Elar Presents Scanner for Digitizing Historical Documents
The Elar group of companies has developed the PlanScan A0 wide-format scanner for digitizing archival documents, maps, and drawings.

The device is designed for handling large-format and fragile originals that require careful treatment. The system delivers a resolution of 16 line pairs per millimeter. A special sensor preserves image sharpness across the entire A0 sheet area, while the autofocus system makes it possible to scan relief objects with height differences of up to 5 cm. The reinforced cradle is designed for folios weighing up to 50 kg and up to 30 cm thick. Eight pressure sensors monitor the contact force, reducing the risk of damaging fragile pages.
Segmented LED lighting allows work with reflective materials without ultraviolet radiation. Previously, foreign scanners were used for such tasks, but they are now unavailable or do not meet Rosarkhiv requirements.
The PlanScan A0 runs on the domestic ScanImage software under Linux. The equipment is manufactured at the company's own facilities, and every device undergoes a 50-hour wear test. The built-in workstation makes it possible to begin digitization immediately after installation without purchasing a separate computer.
