Russian Specialists Build AI-Powered Tool to Detect PTSD
Researchers in Samara have unveiled a digital platform that helps spot early signs of post-traumatic stress disorder and motivates people to seek professional help.

Experts from Samara State Medical University, part of Russia’s Ministry of Health, together with colleagues from the Samara Regional Clinical Psychiatric Hospital, have introduced a computer program designed for the rapid detection of PTSD symptoms, according to the university’s press service.
The system is aimed at people who may need professional psychological support but cannot or do not seek it out.
The technology is based on the SBIRT approach—screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment. It combines a questionnaire with a voice module and can run an initial assessment without a doctor’s involvement. If the system detects that a user may be at risk, it activates a motivational audio module designed to encourage them to recognize the importance of contacting a specialist. Afterward, the program provides a current list of available professionals.
