Russian Student Builds AI Fitness Coach to Personalize Training
Smart algorithms will analyze the body’s condition, create workout plans, and help both amateurs and athletes prepare for competition.

A student from Lobachevsky State University in Nizhny Novgorod, Roman Polyansky, has received a startup grant to develop an AI-powered fitness trainer. The technology aims to personalize workouts by analyzing a user’s physical condition and generating custom training plans, addressing a growing shortage of personal trainers for one-on-one sessions.
University representatives said the project will bring AI directly into the fitness space, offering accessible, adaptive coaching that adjusts to each user’s progress and goals.
Neural Networks Already in Training Mode
Artificial intelligence is already helping Russian athletes and fitness enthusiasts prepare for events. Elena Shkatova, a trail and marathon runner from Bashkortostan, shared how she used an AI assistant to train for the Malidak Trail this year:
AI is also gaining ground in professional sports. For example, CSKA Moscow has implemented a system that analyzes players’ performance and behavior, even predicting the probability of a goal—a sign that artificial intelligence is becoming a teammate in both gyms and stadiums across Russia.
