Russia’s Agriculture Sector Leads in AI Adoption

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming Russian farming, with drones, weather sensors, and even autonomous tractors improving productivity across the country.
Agriculture is one of the leading industries in Russia when it comes to adopting artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The statement was made by Maksut Shadayev, head of Russia’s Ministry of Digital Development, during the Rural Workers Forum, as reported by TASS.
"Drones are flying over crops, analyzing weed density, and identifying where fertilizers are needed. Digital weather stations are being installed. Even autonomous tractors are being introduced," the minister said.
Shadayev emphasized that digital tools not only improve convenience for rural residents but also significantly enhance the efficiency of agricultural enterprises.
Recently, Russia launched a nationwide agricultural digitization program. Drones will be used for field management, dramatically cutting labor demands. The development of digital tools for agriculture is a key focus area under the national 'Unmanned Aerial Systems' initiative.
The widespread deployment of agri-drones is expected to reduce costs and increase crop yields across the country.
