Skolkovo Gymnasium Launches AI and Robotics Training Program for Teachers Across Russia

Skolkovo’s elite school is scaling up its experimental course in AI and robotics, making it available to teachers nationwide to train the next generation of tech innovators.

At Skolkovo Gymnasium, a new professional development program has been launched for teachers from across Russia. The course, called “Innovatika,” focuses on the hands-on creation of digital products. Students learn to work with data, build prototypes, and test hypotheses using modern technologies. The key principle is learning through project development in teams, with special emphasis on digital communication and IT tools.

Last year, graduates of the “Innovatika” program presented more than 15 projects. Among them were a robotic arm for waste sorting powered by computer vision, an automated tomato sorting device, and a bot integrated into an electronic gradebook that analyzes student workload through algorithms.

The teacher training will be carried out by Skolkovo Education, a subsidiary of the Skolkovo ecosystem. The format will be blended: educators nationwide will gain access to online materials, while in-person sessions will take place in the school’s technology labs.

Beyond “Innovatika,” the program includes courses in pedagogical design to help create digital educational content and transform school libraries into modern information hubs. The goal is to prepare IT industry talent starting from the school level.
