Sudan Shows Interest in Russian Offshore Oil and Gas Technologies

Sudan is looking to adopt advanced Russian IT and engineering solutions for developing oil and gas reserves on the Red Sea shelf.
The Republic of Sudan has expressed interest in leveraging Russia’s advanced technologies for offshore oil and gas exploration and production in the Red Sea. The research and practical work is being carried out by Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas.
According to Sudanese representative Jamal Hadi, Russia is currently conducting some of the most promising scientific research in the field of exploration and development of hard-to-recover offshore oil and gas reserves. He emphasized that Russian experts possess world-class knowledge in training specialists for work on such projects.
The university hosts the only marine drilling center in Russia and the third in the world. There, specialists create digital twins of geological structures and simulate various production scenarios. It is also home to Russia’s first training ground for subsea production equipment. In addition to its work with Sudan, the university collaborates with 96 other countries, training oil and gas professionals for both Russia and abroad.
