Tatarstan Launches Mobile App to Help Children Learn the Tatar Language

The Alifba 2.0 app, based on a classic 1965 primer, is designed to help preschoolers and first-grade students learn the Tatar alphabet and reading through interactive games.

"Alifba 2.0 is designed to help children learn the Tatar language and read in Tatar without formal lessons. Children simply download the app and start playing. Through games and entertainment, they gradually become immersed in the learning process. They cannot move on to the next letter until they have mastered the previous one, and each new letter unlocks additional games. The app also features 15 characters from Tatar culture, each with its own voice and animations, guiding children through an engaging learning experience," said Azat Ganiyev, director of the Tatarmultfilm studio.

The project was developed by Salay Vagizov and Ramziya Valitova with support from the Commission for the Preservation of the Tatar Language under the Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan. In addition to teaching reading and writing, the app is designed to foster values such as diligence and respect for elders. It is available for iOS and Android devices and can also be used on interactive classroom whiteboards.
