A Cleaning Robot Takes Over at a Siberian Airport

In Krasnoyarsk, Russia, an autonomous cleaning machine is now responsible for keeping an airport terminal spotless — handling the workload of an entire crew.
Robots are no longer confined to Moscow or St. Petersburg. At Krasnoyarsk International Airport in Siberia, a locally built cleaning robot has officially joined the staff, sweeping through passenger areas and baggage-handling zones.
There’s only one machine for now, but its output is striking: up to 1,000 square meters per hour at moderate speed. The robot is designed with collision-avoidance systems that allow it to move safely even in crowded spaces, minimizing risks for travelers rushing to their flights.
The robot does not operate on its own: the development specialists constantly interact with it, make improvements to the quality of cleaning and expand its functionality.
