The Serpukhov Elevator Plant is moving to a new level of quality control by developing an industrial system for marking and tracking its products, according to the press service of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Science of the Moscow Region.

Every component produced — from large structural beams to small fasteners — will receive a unique digital identifier. This laser-applied mark will accompany each item throughout its entire lifecycle, from metal production at the supplier stage to installation and subsequent operation inside an elevator shaft.

As explained by Alexey Bykov, the plant’s technical director, the system is an analogue of Russia’s national product labeling framework Chestny ZNAK for the elevator industry. In this case, however, the focus is not just on labeling but on creating a full-fledged digital profile for each product.

A Digital “Dossier” for Every Component

According to Bykov, the interactive solution is designed for practical use. A dedicated application will be able to scan any component and instantly provide a complete digital “dossier,” including where and when it was manufactured, batch number, quality control results, installation guidance, and operational data. This approach is expected to raise service and quality standards across the industry.

Earlier, IT Russia reported that Russia’s first “smart” elevator had been commissioned in Nizhny Novgorod, automatically delivering residents to their floors without requiring them to press any buttons.
