Second Reactor for Floating Power Unit Manufactured at ZiO-Podolsk Plant
It is set to operate in Chukotka.
The ZiO-Podolsk plant in the Moscow Region has manufactured a RITM-200S reactor unit. It is designed for installation on a floating power unit that will supply electricity to a major copper cluster in Chukotka.
The unit has passed all hydraulic tests, confirming its reliability and performance. The team also carried out a trial assembly to make sure that all components fit together exactly as specified in the drawings.
“2026 has been a landmark year for the ZiO-Podolsk engineering team: for the first time, we have manufactured a complete set of RITM reactor units for a nuclear floating power unit that will supply power to an industrial cluster in Russia’s Far North. This is an important step in the development of small-scale nuclear power worldwide. The plant has also set a record this year: four RITM-family units have already been manufactured in less than a year, with another five currently in production,” said Anton Lebedev, head of ZiO-Podolsk.
The floating power unit has two reactors. The first was manufactured in May and delivered to the shipyard. It is set to be installed on the platform soon.
