Russian Satellite Internet to Undergo Industrial Testing

Five major Russian industrial firms will test next-gen satellite internet to explore applications in mining, logistics, and digital analytics.
Next year, satellite communication developed by Russian aerospace firm Bureau 1440, part of X-Holding, will be tested by five major industrial companies from the country’s mining and manufacturing sectors. Participants include a unified telecom operator for a major oil company, gold and diamond miners, a metallurgical enterprise, and a transport infrastructure operator.
The tests will evaluate how satellite internet can support business operations — from signal quality and subscriber equipment to rapid connectivity and system performance. Russia’s satellite service is expected to enable big data processing, video analytics, and the use of digital twins, enhancing operational oversight and rapid incident response. Critically, it could also improve working conditions in remote regions.
Developers say a full 24/7 launch will follow the test phase. By 2027, the new system aims to become a cornerstone of Russia’s industrial digitalization strategy.
