Rosaccreditation Builds a Big Data Engine to Forecast Russia’s Economic Trends
A 170-terabyte data system that grows by tens of thousands of documents daily is becoming Russia’s new tool for analyzing macroeconomic trends and consumer behavior — a major leap from reporting to strategic forecasting.

Dmitry Volvach, head of Rosaccreditation — Russia’s Federal Service for Accreditation — presented the agency’s large-scale digital transformation during the plenary session of the 4th International Scientific and Practical Conference on the Digital Transformation of the Global Economic System.
Rosaccreditation’s federal data system now holds more than 170 terabytes of information, expanding by about 4 TB every month. These datasets are deeply integrated into the government’s digital infrastructure, allowing rapid data exchange among agencies. The accreditation registry operates in real time, connecting with 15 federal and 150 regional authorities. For example, the Federal Customs Service relies on this data to monitor imports, sending over 400,000 requests each month.
New digital services have also enabled the creation of specialized 'data showcases' for 14 government agencies. Based on these, 30 new public services are set to launch soon.
But the system’s greatest potential lies in predictive analytics. By applying artificial intelligence to massive data flows, Rosaccreditation aims to produce accurate forecasts of economic dynamics. The initiative marks a shift from traditional reporting to strategic economic planning — positioning big data as a core driver of Russia’s digital economy.
