Rosatom to Take Part in Developing Russia’s First Lithography Machine
The state nuclear corporation joins the effort to produce high-end microchip equipment and strengthen the country’s technological independence.

Russia has begun the first phase of developing its own lithography machine for producing modern computer chips — a crucial step toward achieving full technological sovereignty. According to Alexander Sergeev, scientific director of the National Center for Physics and Mathematics (NCPM), preliminary design work for the machine is already underway.
The NCPM, co-founded by the state corporation Rosatom, will engage research institutes from the atomic sector in the project. Experts say Russia has all the capabilities needed to develop equipment capable of producing microchips on an industrial scale.
Under an agreement with the Russian government, Rosatom is also responsible for advancing quantum technologies, including quantum computing. The corporation continues to drive scientific innovation across sectors — recently awarding six teams of young researchers for breakthrough projects already applied in medicine, energy, and industry.
