Russian Museum to Open Sci-Tech Art Exhibition in Tsarskoye Selo

A new exhibition blending history with digital art will offer visitors an immersive experience in the legacy of Tsarskoye Selo through science and technology.
Russia’s Tsarskoye Selo Museum-Reserve is preparing to unveil a groundbreaking exhibition titled 'Crypto/Ferma.' The project was developed in collaboration with the Art & Science Center of ITMO University, one of Russia’s top technology institutes.
The participating artists were invited to reinterpret the history of Tsarskoye Selo using scientific and technological tools. The exhibition will feature seven installations.
Visitors will experience bird’s-eye views of the Imperial Farm via virtual reality, control flowing streams of digital 'milk rivers' through interactive bacterial simulations, and explore a modern take on botanist Carl Linnaeus’s plant-based clock. They will also see porcelain tableware created using 3D printing.
The exhibition will include a public education program featuring lectures, panel discussions, curator-led tours, and meetings with both the artists and scientists from ITMO University, as well as experts from the Tsarskoye Selo Museum.
