Russian Students Design AI-Powered Educational Tools at Summer School

A Tyumen University program brings together young researchers to explore how AI can shape the future of knowledge and teaching.
Tyumen State University has launched a summer school titled '(Non)Human Knowledge: AI, Science, Education,' where students and graduate researchers from top Russian universities are developing educational tools powered by artificial intelligence. The event is a follow-up to the national 'AI in Higher Education' forum, which brought together experts from across the country.
Participants are split into two tracks: one focused on designing scientific research using AI tools, the other on building educational courses where neural networks play a central role. According to Asia Filatova, a researcher at the Center for AI-Based Educational Development, the format helps participants rethink how knowledge is created through human–machine collaboration—and what ethical questions emerge along the way.
Throughout the program, students test chatbots, experiment with neural search engines, and prototype innovative education products. The best projects will be integrated into the curriculum at Tyumen State University and partner institutions, expanding the possibilities for digital learning across Russia.
