The Exit of Western Vendors Accelerates Russia’s ERP Transformation

The departure of major Western software providers from the Russian market has become a powerful catalyst for the adoption and development of domestic ERP systems. Russian industries and businesses are now rapidly implementing homegrown IT solutions that match—and sometimes surpass—their foreign counterparts.

Automation from the Ground Up: The Case of Green Vilka

One of the most compelling examples of next-generation industrial automation comes from the Russian wood-processing plant Green Vilka, located in the Kirov region. Designed and built from scratch, the facility was developed with digital transformation in mind from day one. A full-cycle ERP solution based on the 1C:Company Management (1C:UNF) platform, integrated with 1C:Accounting, was selected for end-to-end automation.

The implementation, carried out by domestic IT integrator RusBusinessSoft, covered every stage of the production cycle—from raw material procurement to shipment of finished goods. A built-in analytics system enables real-time tracking of material batches and enterprise-wide operations.

Green Vilka manufactures biodegradable single-use tableware, from raw logs to final packaged goods. Its flexible, scalable IT infrastructure and ecological focus position it as a benchmark for sustainable digital manufacturing in Russia. The project underscores the ability of Russian software to serve complex and evolving needs in fast-growing industries.

World-Class ERP Solutions, Made in Russia

With global ERP vendors such as SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft suspending operations in Russia, the country’s IT sector has quickly pivoted to indigenous platforms. Among these, 1C:ERP leads the pack, capturing over 80% of Russia’s ERP market.

The flagship product, 1C:ERP Enterprise Management, supports core business functions including performance tracking, department coordination, and mobile or cloud-based access via the 1C:Enterprise 8.3 platform. It also offers integration with a wide range of specialized modules—PDM, PLM, EAM, ITIL, CRM, and others—tailored to Russian legal and operational standards.

Other notable Russian ERP developers include Galaktika ERP, Turbo ERP by Konstist, and Business Technologies, further illustrating the depth and maturity of the local ecosystem.

Proven Impact Across Russian Industry

Russian companies are already seeing tangible returns from ERP adoption. Agroholding AgroPromKomplektatsiya increased efficiency thirtyfold after migrating to a 1C-based IT landscape. Shipbuilder Vympel automated its manufacturing preparation with ASCON/PLM software. Small-batch manufacturers have embraced 1C:KA to streamline resource-centric accounting, while Zolla warehouses saw a 70% productivity spike after deployment.

The Green Vilka initiative aligns with these broader trends. Early-stage digitalization avoids long-term technical debt and lays the groundwork for scalable operations. The UNF platform demonstrated consistency, streamlined workflows, and ease of expansion. Its support for AI modules opens doors for predictive analytics, optimization, and long-term planning.

As AI continues to shape retail—from contact centers to analytics—the synergy between ERP and smart tech is poised to drive significant KPIs across sectors.

Looking Ahead: AI, Exports, and Global Ambitions

Future developments will likely center on 'AI + production core' models for small and medium-sized enterprises. Russia’s export footprint for IT products is expected to grow, particularly in CIS and developing markets, as local integrators become trusted digital partners for industrial innovation.

Deeper integration between PLM, AI, and 1C environments will enable smarter planning, dynamic logistics, and automated quality control. The domestic ERP sector is already showing strong growth, bolstered by technical innovation, skilled professionals, and a unified vision for national digital independence.
