Russian Cows With "Neuro-Horns" Produce More Milk

A Russian startup is implanting brain chips in cattle to reduce stress and boost productivity, marking the world’s first commercial rollout of such technology.

The company NeuroRoga has begun the first-ever commercial deployment of neurochips designed to increase dairy productivity in cattle. The technology involves implanting electrodes into a cow’s brain and attaching a stimulator at the back of its head.

The device targets brain regions responsible for appetite, stress, and reproductive function. The goal is to improve key health metrics in livestock, which ultimately leads to consistent growth in milk yields.

The implantation procedure takes about 30 minutes and can be carried out directly on the farm. Animals tolerate the operation well and quickly return to normal production cycles.

In the near future, more than twenty cows will be equipped with neurostimulators. The company plans to make the procedure a routine practice in dairy farming.
