AI Takes Over Farm Management in Russia

A Russian agricultural field may look ordinary, but it’s fully managed by artificial intelligence—from crop planning to harvest and post-season analysis.
At first glance, the fields of Rusagro-Balakovo might seem like any other in Russia. But these fields are managed by artificial intelligence powered by the digital platform 'Field History.' Developed by GeomirAgro and Rusagro Group the solution was highlighted by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
The AI system determines the optimal crop varieties for different sections, protects plants from pests, calculates harvesting routes for machinery, and evaluates outcomes at the end of each season. Based on this analysis it generates strategic recommendations for future planting cycles.
According to the report, 'Field History' has nearly fully automated many farm operations, reducing costs and improving profitability. The project has drawn attention not only from agricultural producers but also from government agencies.
GeomirAgro received backing from the Russian Information Technology Development Fund (RFRIT) and is part of a national program promoting IT solutions that reduce reliance on imports in agriculture.
