The Moskovskaya Elektronnaya Shkola (MESH) project was launched in Russia in 2016 as an experiment to move educational resources into digital formats. Over the past decade, MESH has evolved into a full-fledged online platform combining electronic gradebooks and attendance records, educational services, and one of the country’s largest online libraries. In 2025 alone, the platform logged more than 285 million visits, according to Moscow’s Department of Education and Science.

Fiction is the most popular category, with the library offering around 1,500 literary works. MESH also includes video lessons and virtual laboratories. Online lessons were viewed more than 14 million times, scientific papers were accessed 11 million times, and teachers turned to lesson plans more than 8 million times.

Today, all schools in the Russian capital are connected to MESH. The service is also used in other regions, including Yamal. MESH has established itself as a modern digital tool that supports a high standard of education for millions of school students.
