Russia Launches a Next‑Generation Universal Digital Workspace
A Russian developer, RuPost, has introduced a fully redesigned cross‑platform client that unifies email, calendars, contacts, and corporate services into a secure, next‑generation digital workspace.

Russian developer RuPost, part of the Astra Group, has unveiled Desktop X 2.0 — a next‑generation email and collaboration client built entirely on a proprietary software stack. The product represents a breakthrough in architecture, functionality, and cybersecurity for corporate applications.
According to the company, Desktop X 2.0 is a core component of RuPost’s universal digital workspace ecosystem. Alongside it are the WorksPad X mobile client, the RuPost server infrastructure, and a unified access‑management server.

Together, they give organizations of any size a secure, centrally managed set of tools for both mobile and desktop environments across all major operating systems.
Desktop X 2.0 functions as a universal container for applications and client‑side functions. Unlike traditional email clients, it supports the integration of additional corporate tools. By abandoning legacy code and open‑source dependencies, the vendor maintains full control over quality and long‑term development.
The system operates through a unified client‑access server — a middleware layer that keeps corporate resources inside a protected perimeter.
This removes the need to expose IMAP, CalDAV and other standard protocols to the internet or to deploy complex VPNs, significantly improving data‑access security.
Desktop X 2.0 provides a consistent user experience across Linux, Windows, macOS, and mobile devices. A unified interface helps reduce training time, minimizes user errors, and improves productivity.

The platform supports expansion through RuPost’s own modules as well as integration with corporate tools such as messengers, video conferencing systems, task managers, and AI services. Mini‑apps and bots can be embedded quickly and securely.
The new release extends the vendor’s containerization strategy — first introduced in WorksPad — and supports the BYOD trend across laptops and desktops. This gives customers a smooth transition through platform changes and allows for hybrid or fully remote work environments. The interface follows modern UX standards to reduce the psychological barrier that often accompanies software migration.

Desktop X 2.0 easily integrates into heterogeneous IT landscapes with different email servers. It can be purchased separately or as part of the RuPost server suite. With WorksPad X, customers receive a complete set of cross‑platform business clients.
