Russia to Increase the Number of Drones Used for Land Oversight

More than 1,000 unmanned aerial systems are expected to be used to monitor land use in 2026.

Drones are already being widely used in Russia for land oversight, the Federal Service for State Registration, Cadastre, and Cartography (Rosreestr) said. Next year, the number of aircraft in operation is set to double, allowing authorities to cover a larger number of land plots. The remarks by Rosreestr head Oleg Skufinsky were reported by TASS.

He said the cadastral service currently operates just under 500 drones and plans to purchase roughly the same number more in the near future. About 600 specialists have been trained to work with the systems. Skufinsky added that Rosreestr relies on several digital technologies in its day-to-day operations.

Eva and Umny Kadastr

The digital assistant Eva has reduced the time required to accept documents and register property rights to as little as five minutes. The Umny Kadastr service (Smart Cadastre) helps identify unregistered real estate assets.

Drones make it possible to monitor large areas, detect unauthorized construction, and identify cases where land is not being used. Under current legislation, at least 10 percent of all inspections must already be carried out using quadcopters.
