Specialists at the Tsentr endokrinologii imeni akademika Dedova (Dedov Endocrinology Center) in Moscow have developed an innovative digital platform for people living with diabetes.

The platform generates content based on real questions from patients and their relatives. With the help of leading Russian experts, users can learn the meaning of medical terms, find simple explanations for complex concepts, debunk myths about diabetes, and receive practical advice on nutrition, physical activity, and everyday disease management.

A Growing Focus

The spread of diabetes in Russia is receiving increasing attention. The country regularly introduces digital tools designed to help detect and monitor the condition at early stages. In the near future, endocrinologists across Russia will gain access to an online calculator designed to diagnose the type of diabetes during early consultations. The tool was developed by specialists at the Nauchno-issledovatelskiy institut terapii i profilakticheskoy meditsiny (Research Institute of Therapy and Preventive Medicine).

Earlier reports noted that Sibirskiy gosudarstvennyy meditsinskiy universitet (Siberian State Medical University) created a telemedicine clinical decision-support system called Oftalmik+ (Oftalmik Plus) for diagnosing diabetic retinopathy. The system analyzes retinal images using artificial intelligence and identifies pathologies at an early stage.

Students from Moskovskiy aviatsionnyy institut (Moscow Aviation Institute) and the Rossiyskiy universitet druzhby narodov (Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia) are also developing a wireless insulin pump. The device is expected to be controlled through a mobile app that analyzes blood glucose levels, calculates the required insulin dose, and helps continuously monitor treatment.

In addition, scientists from the Institut biologii stareniya (Institute of Biology of Aging) and the AI research center at Lobachevsky University in Nizhny Novgorod have presented an AI model capable of predicting the risk of death from all possible causes among patients with diabetes. The development could help create personalized risk profiles for individual patients.
