Russian Regions Roll Out Domestically Made Base Stations
The equipment is capable of supporting three types of connectivity at the same time.

MTS has deployed the first Russian-made Irteya base stations in three localities across Udmurtia, the operator said in a statement.
The new equipment simultaneously supports three types of communications.
Later this year, the company plans to install five more domestically produced base stations in Izhevsk, as well as in the Mozhginsky and Glazovsky districts. The rollout is expected to expand LTE coverage and make the network more resilient.
Toward Technological Independence
The Irteya base station was developed under the roadmap for “Modern and Advanced Mobile Communications Networks,” with co-financing from the state. The equipment is fully manufactured in Russia and supports international open standards and the Open RAN architecture.
According to Nikolai Rupasov, MTS’s director in Udmurtia, localizing production and deploying Russian-made base stations “reduces dependence on imported equipment and strengthens the network’s technological independence.”
